The Nature Preschool at YMCA Camp Gundalow

We are excited to present The Nature Preschool at YMCA Camp Gundalow.  Preschool program is available for 3, 4, and young 5 year olds.  The Nature Preschool will be opening in fall 2009 and managed by Southern District YMCA Camp Lincoln.  Please contact us to learn more or to schedule a tour. 
 
Multi-age classroom available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 11:30 am.  Lunch option available from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm.

Mission  
The mission of The Nature Preschool at YMCA Camp Gundalow is to provide a premier early childhood environment which meets the developmental needs of the whole child, while initiating them into a lifelong, meaningful relationship with the natural world.
 
Philosophy
At The Nature Preschool we believe that children are intrinsically motivated to learn.
The teaching staff promotes learning by:
• Providing an environment which encourages discovery, experimentation, and the opportunity to see the results of one’s actions.
• Developing activities that encourage growth based on children’s abilities and interests.
• Encouraging problem-solving and reflection by asking open-ended questions and providing information in response to children’s ideas, insights, and concerns.
• Assisting children in their interactions with each other and offering opportunities for cooperative learning.
• Appreciating the individuality of children and families while celebrating diversity.
Curriculum
The Nature Preschool curriculum focuses on the whole child, promoting growth in physical, social, emotional and intellectual areas.   Children will gain an understanding and appreciation of literature, mathematics, science and social studies through our hands-on, experiential nature-based learning.   By the end of the year, the children will learn how to be a part of a group, to follow directions, and to take turns with toys and games.

Our Program  
·   The Nature Preschool will offer a multi-age classroom, available Monday through Friday.   Children may enroll for a 2-day, 3- day, or 5-day per week schedule on days which work best for their family.
·   Hours are Monday through Friday from
       8:30 am until 11:30 am.
·   Lunch bunch option is available from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm for $7.00.
·   Tuition:
2 days: $180.00 month
3 days: $240.00 month
5 days: $360.00 month
·   Registration fee of $30.00
·   Preschool follows Greenland Central
      Elementary School closing and holiday              
      schedule
·   State licensed preschool program with qualified teachers            
·   Teacher-child ratio of 1:8
·   Minimum of 10 children required to run program
·   Children must be prepared for outdoor fun.
