Class Descriptions

Boot Camp: This is not a fitness class where we will scream at you.   We won't. However you will be pushed.   We will be outdoors and indoors using a mixture of bodyweight training (lunges, squats, push ups, etc), cardio, obstacle courses, jump rope, sprints, tubing exercise, medicine balls, weightlifting and “more.” What’s “more?”   How about tractor tires, sandbags, sledgehammers, and playground equipment?   Think you have seen it all?   You thought wrong.   This class is creatively planned and will mix it up each day, challenging different muscle groups and keeping it fun. You'll see results you wouldn't get on your own! This unique boot camp is an experience in smashing your challenges and transforming your body.   We will start with baseline testing (body fat analysis, and fitness evaluations) and progress to workouts that will change the way you look at garden variety “gym “fitness.

Feldenkrais Movement: The Feldenkrais Method ® is for anyone who wants to reconnect with their natural abilities to move, think and feel. Learning to move with less effort makes daily life easier. Whether you want to be more comfortable sitting at your computer, playing with your children and grandchildren, performing a favorite pastime, improve athletics or art, these gentle lessons can improve your overall well being.

Vinyasa Yoga: Strong and athletic vinyasa-style yoga class.  The term “vinyasa” means “breath linked with movement”.  Synchronizing breath with powerful movement is the basis for our vinyasa class. If you’re looking to build fitness and flexibility, release stress and become more focused, this dynamic meditation in motion will strengthen the body, while quieting the mind.  Class will be taught to all levels with some vinyasa yoga experience helpful. Poses move through a progression, modifications offered to make this class safe at all levels. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves at a safe and effective level of practice.

Wellness Yoga: Increase strength, flexibility, and brighten your outlook with yoga!  Practice cultivating a healthy body and a happy mind in this one-hour class where you can experience the peacefulness of uniting movement and breath. Class will begin with gentle spinal warm-ups followed by a guided pose series with specific instruction provided. We will stretch and strengthen the body and the mind. Each class will focus on a theme that connects ancient yogic wisdom with everyday life. We will end with deep relaxation and meditation. All levels are welcome.

Zumba: Zumba® fuses hypnotic latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of caloric-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!  The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms, and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba®!

Caroline Ruhm

I think dancing is the best thing in the world, and have been doing it as long as I can remember. My training stems from ballet and jazz, but I discovered hip-hop and salsa when I lived in New York, and really fell in love with the Latin styles.  Zumba is great because it includes so many different styles of dance, it's an awesome workout and a fun escape. What could be better?!
